Objective: to integrate poetry, recycling, and art into a single cohesive project that inspires others.
Steps:
1. Get recycled palette boards and cut them in into usable lengths
2. Prep board (sand if desired), and prime with paint (if desired)
3. Select or write a poem
4. Design art to illustrate the poem (open medium)
-can use collage, paint, wood carving, woodburning, paint, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, etc.
-preliminary sketches are encouraged (just trace outline of board on paper)
-remember to include the poem or selections from poem into design
5. Finished work may be sealed with polyurethane (if desired) and hanging hardware mounted on back
Students can use any material they see fit for their illustration, as long as is stays within the edges of the wood.
Illustrations should successfully portray the mood and idea of the poem
Entire set of completed projects can be displayed at both schools and/or at a gallery.
